  • DSC Logistics Inc. has been certified as a Women's Business Enterprise by The Women's Business Development Center and The Women's Business Enterprise National Council. This national certification recognizes a company that is 51 percent or more owned, operated and controlled by a woman.
  • Terry DiSalle has been promoted to sales manager at Creative Storage Systems. He will be responsible for developing new markets, promoting company growth and managing six outside regional systems managers. DiSalle has worked for 14 years in the material handling industry. Based in Kennesaw, Ga., Creative Storage Systems makes gravity flow storage systems.
  • Design Storage & Handling of Fredericksburg, Va., has formed a new ICE division to market and support internal combustion products offered by Hubtex, Jumbo and Ranger. Design Storage is the exclusive North American importer of Hubtex and Jumbo sideloaders in addition to handling the rough terrain forklift products made by Ranger. Design Storage also offers turnkey layouts and systems, racking and electric multi-directional sideloaders.
  • Norm Murphy is the new chief financial officer of Commodity Logistics, based in Ohio. Commodity Logistics is a provider of asset-based supply chain services, including warehousing, transportation and logistics information systems to clients nationwide.
  • Daifuku America Corp. is adopting its parent brand, Daifuku. Based in Columbus, Ohio, Daifuku America manufactures material handling equipment and provides warehouse management software. Prior to a merger early last year, the company was known as SK Daifuku.
  • Fortna has opened a new office in Atlanta and appointed Helgi Leja as account executive there. The move expands Fortna's presence and customer service in Southeastern states. Leja has extensive experience in creating integrated transportation/warehouse solutions.
  • Steve Matheys is the new chief marketing officer for Schneider National Inc. Previously the company's chief information officer, Matheys will now be responsible for sales, marketing and pricing.
  • Ryder System Inc. has appointed Jennifer Thomas as its senior vice president of human resources. In her new role, Thomas will be responsible for leading Ryder's human resources business strategy.
  • SEKO has named three new account representatives. Mike Iannacchione is the vice president of strategic clients for the company's national accounts team. He will be responsible for overall management of the SEKO Strategic Client Program. Tom McIntyre was appointed director of business-to-consumer sales, heading up the development and expansion of the home delivery sales program for strategic national accounts. Roy Lawson joins the company as director of strategic clients and will be responsible for business development among top companies in the Midwest area.
  • Robert N. Rogers will be awarded the Safety Codes and Standards Medal by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) during the group's meeting next month in Las Vegas. Rogers is retired, following a 37-year career at Raymond Corp. The award recognizes individuals who work to enhance public safety through codes and standards and who promote operator safety in the industry.
  • TradeBeam Inc., a provider of Global Trade Management solutions, has completed two deployments of its software designed to support the Department of Homeland Security's Operation Safe Commerce initiative. TradeBeam's software provides monitoring, evaluation and management of international shipments and allows users to detect and respond to potential security threats across their global supply chain operations.
  • Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has named Shelley Norwood vice president of business development for Asia. He will be responsible for developing new products and services for customers working within the Asian market. Norwood will be based in Los Angeles.
  • LeSaint Logistics, a third-party provider of transportation, warehousing, fulfillment and supply chain management services, has moved its headquarters and Illinois warehousing operation to Elgin, Ill. The move was made to accommodate company growth, with staff expected to double in the new warehouse facility within the next six months.
  • Carey W. Zimmerman has been appointed global marketing leader at RedPrairie Corp. Zimmerman will oversee the company's corporate and regional marketing divisions. He will be responsible for corporate branding, strategic marketing, marketing communications and lead generation activities.
  • Conveyor Solutions, a Schaumburg, Ill.-based material handling systems integrator, has named Scott Lee president. Previously the vice president of sales, Lee replaces Joe Tholl, who will remain with the nine-year-old company as CEO.

Following a year in which global logistics networks were buffeted by labor strikes, natural disasters, regional political violence, and economic turbulence, the supply chain visibility provider Project44 has compiled the impact of each of those events in a new study.

The “2024 Year in Review” report lists the various transportation delays, freight volume restrictions, and infrastructure repair costs of a long string of events. Those disruptions include labor strikes at Canadian ports and postal sites, the U.S. East and Gulf coast port strike; hurricanes Helene, Francine, and Milton; the Francis Scott key Bridge collapse in Baltimore Harbor; the CrowdStrike cyber attack; and Red Sea missile attacks on passing cargo ships.

Shippeo gains $30 million backing for its transportation visibility platform

The French transportation visibility provider Shippeo today said it has raised $30 million in financial backing, saying the money will support its accelerated expansion across North America and APAC, while driving enhancements to its “Real-Time Transportation Visibility Platform” product.

The funding round was led by Woven Capital, Toyota’s growth fund, with participation from existing investors: Battery Ventures, Partech, NGP Capital, Bpifrance Digital Venture, LFX Venture Partners, Shift4Good and Yamaha Motor Ventures. With this round, Shippeo’s total funding exceeds $140 million.

ReposiTrak and Upshop link platforms to enable food traceability

ReposiTrak, a global food traceability network operator, will partner with Upshop, a provider of store operations technology for food retailers, to create an end-to-end grocery traceability solution that reaches from the supply chain to the retail store, the firms said today.

The partnership creates a data connection between suppliers and the retail store. It works by integrating Salt Lake City-based ReposiTrak’s network of thousands of suppliers and their traceability shipment data with Austin, Texas-based Upshop’s network of more than 450 retailers and their retail stores.
