The Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) brings its popular two-day workshop "Maximizing Warehouse Space" to Princeton, N.J., on Oct. 2-3. The first day is devoted to a discussion of the elements of planning space. On day two, participants work within groups to design a fictional distribution center using techniques learned the previous day.
The seminar is designed for warehouse managers and supervisors, engineers and realtors, and managers building or redesigning a DC. It is also recommended for managers responsible for warehouse productivity or those responsible for operational change.
The workshop offers instruction on analyzing current operations; evaluating types of storage modules, lift trucks, material handling equipment, picking methods and work flows; and calculating return on investment. Participants also gain insights into common layout and design mistakes, designing the best layout for a facility, and implementation techniques.
