Global logistics companies will have new capabilities for shipping optimization and trade compliance in two new supply chain software releases, according to enterprise resource planning (ERP) software developer Oracle Corp.
The Redwood Shores, Calif., company launched new releases of its Oracle Transportation Management and Oracle Global Trade Management platforms, announcing improvements that are intended to support improved performance in transportation, compliance, and customs processes in nearly any industry or geography.
Oracle announced a suite of new capabilities in Oracle Transportation Management 6.4, such as enhanced visibility into in-transit shipment information, simplified rate management processes, and a configurable user workbench for fleet management activities including mapping, traffic, and weather planning.
The company also unveiled new features in its Oracle Global Trade Management 6.4 product, with a Landed Cost Simulator for estimating sourcing options, customs duty, and tax amounts. Another upgrade is the Customs Management platform, which allows users to manage the import pre-entry process by valuing customs fees, calculating duties, and documenting customs filings.
"Shippers and logistics service providers are looking for competitive ways to streamline and enhance complex transportation and trade management processes," Derek Gittoes, Oracle's vice president for supply chain management product strategy, said in a release. "In the latest releases of Oracle Transportation Management and Oracle Global Trade Management, we have combined new capabilities, such as landed cost simulations, with enhancements to one of the industry's most comprehensive transportation and global trade management platforms. As a result we are in a better place than ever to help our customers further streamline processes, reduce costs and mitigate risks."
